Wheelchair user robbed by pair with bicycle in Hanover

Hanover police are searching for two suspects accused of stealing from a man who uses a wheelchair earlier this week.

According to police, the victim was in the area of 10th Street and 11th Avenue at around 9:30 p.m. Thursday when he was approached by two males who had been following behind him.

The victim told police he was accosted by a man on a BMX bicycle who asked him for directions to the police station. Meanwhile, the second suspect, on foot, robbed him of several items and the pair took off. Police say the men may have been taking turns sharing the bicycle.

No injuries were reported; however, some of the items stolen from the victim were of sentimental value, including photos of late family members.

Then men are both described as Caucasian, between 20 to 30-years-old. The man on foot at the time of the robbery was wearing a white hoodie and was clean shaven, police said. The second suspect on the bike was in dark clothing with white running shoes.

Anyone who might have witnessed the incident, or those who have video surveillance in the area are asked to check for possible footage of the suspects.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Hanover Police Service at 519-364-2411, or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), or online at www.ontariocrimestoppers.ca.
