United Way Perth-Huron kickstarts LCBO campaign

From now until October 8, you can add a donation to the United Way Perth-Huron (UWPH) on top of your LCBO shopping list.

All donations to the UWPH's Urgent Needs Fund stay local and help people in your community make ends meet.

"Part of our campaign this year, we're trying to help people in our community who are struggling with the cost of living these days," said Ryan Erb, executive director at the UWPH. "We know that the cost of living is quite a challenge for many people, especially in our region where we know that most families are living $200 away from being able to pay their bills. About half the families in our community are living on less than a living wage."

Donations will be accepted at the till at LCBO locations for those who are able to donate financially. If you want to help in a different way or need help yourself, Erb recommends calling 211.

"This is our 24 hour, seven day a week hotline that helps people access social services and people can access that information in up to 150 different languages," he said.

UWPH is looking to raise $2.5 million in this year's campaign, which is an increase of $200,000 compared to last year.
