COVID-19 outbreak declared over at local hospital

A COVID-19 outbreak has been declared over at Stratford General Hospital.

A media release from the Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance on September 20 states that the outbreak,which was declared on the Medicine Unit on September 12, is now over.

The Medicine Unit has been reopened to admissions and transfers. Family and Caregiver Presence on the Unit has also been restored. Full guidelines can be found on the HPHA website at www.hpha.ca.

Staff are reminding everyone to not visit patients if you are feeling sick or exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19.

“While this outbreak is over, we can’t stress enough the importance of layering up your protection to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 and other respiratory illnesses that are circulating in Huron Perth,” said Erica Jensen, Manager Quality, Patient Safety & Infection Control. “Keep up-to-date with your vaccines/boosters, wear a mask when in crowded indoor public spaces, wash your hands often and stay home if you are feeling sick.”
