Longtime local hockey lifer Doug Kennedy has been awarded the Ontario Hockey Association's Gold Stick.
The award is given as an honour of merit by the OHA to a person for outstanding service to the game other than as a player. Doug Kennedy has been involved in the local hockey scene for decades, as a player in Jr B, a coach for local youth squads, and as the former Vice President and GM of the PJHL's Kincardine Bulldogs.
Kennedy now presides over the North Conference of the PJHL as the conference's Convenor, and was awarded the OHA's Crystal Puck on multiple occasions for contributions to the game.
Doug has been involved with the Bulldogs since 1994 when the team returned to Kincardine, and has been instrumental in helping so many players and staff over the decades. He was also recognized as the Kincardine Citizen of the year in 1996 and 2010.
In all, Kennedy has been involved with the OHA as a player or executive for over 50 years.
