The Town of Saugeen Shores is mourning the passing of former Port Elgin Mayor, Brian Cleaver.
In a release, the town shared that Cleaver recently passed away, and Saugeen Shores Mayor, Luke Charbonneau, has ordered that all municipal flags be lowered to half mast to honour Cleaver until Wednesday, December 27.
Cleaver was born in Wales, and first became Mayor of Port Elgin in 1991, serving his community throughout many decades not just as mayor, but on many local committees and social clubs.
In 2008, Cleaver won the Town’s Heritage Conservation Award for his work with the Southampton Art School Restoration Committee.
"On behalf of all our residents, Saugeen Shores Town Council extends its deepest sympathies to Brian’s family and friends," said Mayor Charbonneau.
