OPP reminding the public to check and secure seasonal properties

The OPP are reminding the public to check on and properly secure any seasonal properties.

There has been a recent increase in break-ins and thefts from seasonal properties in the region. Police are urging property owners to make sure there aren't any valuables, alcohol, or other items of interest left behind at a seasonal property.

Small appliances and alcohol are often targeted by thieves as they are easy to steal and equally easy to sell for cash and rugs. Homes should be always locked.

The OPP is asking property owners to do semi-regular check-ins of seasonal properties if possible.

If you have security cameras on your seasonal property, you can register them with CAMSafe. To do so or learn more about that program, visit camsafe.ca.
