Though it was delayed a day by bad weather, the charitable spirit was still present at the Leslie Motors Ford's Giving Tuesday event, benefiting the Wingham and District Hospital Foundation.
The event exceeded its goal, raising $54,800, including a $10,000 matching gift by Leslie Motors.
"We were happy to offer the matching gift because the hospital means a lot to our family, our employees and customers," said owner Cole Leslie. "I can hardly believe how much money was raised. We’re so glad to be part of this hugely successful event with the hospital foundation."
The funds will go toward a chemistry analyzer for the hospital lab, which will help provide timely, accurate test results to local patients.
"We are grateful to each and every person who supported the Giving Tuesday event," said WDHF executive director Nicole Duquette. "The outpouring of generosity makes a real difference for our hospital, staff and patients. Leslie Motors is a wonderful community-focused family business and we are fortunate to count them as one of our supporters."
Leslie Motors Ford took over the Giving Tuesday Big Match baton from McDonagh Insurance Brokers, who started the fundraiser with the foundation in 2022.
