Grey County resident wins big with Instant Crossword

A Markdale resident is celebrating a big win on a scratch lottery ticket.

Mary Vandersluis picked up her $50,000 top prize from the Instant Crossword Game #3236 at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto.

The health care worker is an occasional lottery player, but Instant Crossword is one of her favourite games. The 67-year-old mother and grandmother was playing while having a morning coffee, and wondered if she had made a mistake. So she checked the ticket on the OLG app and was shocked to realize she had a big win.

"I thought I made a mistake somewhere on the ticket. I checked it using the OLG app and saw I won $50,000 – I was shocked!" she said. "My heart was pounding! I never dreamed I would experience a big win."

Mary plans to treat herself and her husband to a new hot tub and will complete some home renovations. “I feel so grateful,” she concluded.

Instant Crossword is available for $3 a play and the top prize is $50,000. Odds of winning any prize are 1 in 3.91. The winning ticket was purchased at Sunny & Moon on Toronto Street in Markdale.
