Hanover starts trail bridge repairs

The Town of Hanover has begun repairs on four major local trail bridges.

The bridges are along the south part of the Hanover Community Trails System, and will establish a link with the Concession 2 parking lot that has been absent while the structures have been closed.

"The start of the bridge work is the result of considerable and necessary pre-construction work during the environmental assessment and design phases," said Mayor Sue Paterson. "I look forward to the completion of the trail bridges so that our south line trail section is open for use. Thank you to our residents for their patience during the extended trail bridge closure."

According to the town, bridges 1 and 2, will be replaced with prefabricated steel trusses with timber decks. Bridge 3 will have its deck replaced with a new timber one. Bridge 4 will have its approach spans replaced with prefabricated steel trusses and timber decks and rehabilitation done on the existing steel pony truss.

All work will be completed by UrbanLink Civil Ltd, and the goal is to have construction done by summer of next year.
