Bruce County's Human Services Department is looking for donations for its annual Dorrell Young Christmas Program.
Community members are invited to donate an unwrapped gift, such as toys, books, or clothing, for children or teenagers in need.
"The program began back in the mid 90s and it was to meet community need," said Wendy Woods, Business and Human Services Integration Manager for the department. "Often clients receiving services of the Human Services Department, their families and caregivers struggle during the holiday season."
With the rising cost of living, the need in the county is increasing. Typically, the program supports around 400 children and it's not yet known if that number will be higher this year.
"We have a very supportive community that steps up and we do rely solely on donations from the community through the support of generous individuals and organizations," said Woods.
Unwrapped gifts can be taken to the Bruce County Administrative Centre in Walkerton, the Lakeshore Hub in Port Elgin, the Peninsula Hub in Wiarton, and the Penetangore Hub in Kincardine until December 8.
Support can also be given through monetary donations or sponsoring a family.
