Town of Saugeen Shores is remembering the legacy and contributions of former Southampton Mayor Art Eby.
Eby passed away peacefully at his home in Southampton on Thursday November 16, in his 87th year.
Saugeen Shores Mayor Luke Charbonneau said Eby was active in Southampton’s political, cultural, and recreational organizations for more than half a century.
As a teacher, Eby guided generations of young Saugeen Shores students to and through the social sciences. He joined the Southampton Curling Club in 1955 and kept curling for another 64 years. He also served as the president of the Southampton Rotary Club in the early 1980s, presiding over the construction of the club’s Rotary Hall. In the late 90’s, Eby was elected as Southampton Mayor.
A Funeral service will be held in the chapel of Eagleson Funeral Home, Southampton, on Tuesday November 21, 2023 at 11 a.m.
All the municipal flags flown at half-staff until Wednesday morning.
