Walkerton Hometown Christmas Market returns

The Walkerton Hometown Christmas Market will make its annual return on November 16.

Beginning at 4 p.m., Durham Street will be closed while downtown businesses, artisans, crafters, entertainment, and more fills the streets.

"This is our biggest shopping event of the year," said Paulette Peirol, community development coordinator for the Municipality of Brockton. "People can expect lots of music and merriment, and fantastic shopping specials from all of our downtown businesses."

The vendors market will take place in Market Garden Park, featuring more than 16 vendors, selling things like warm woolens, baked goods, photography, flower arrangements, and more.

In addition to the market, the Shop Walkerton and Win program will also be holding its first draw.

"Our first draw will be at 8 p.m. by the Christmas tree," Peirol said. "Shop Walkerton and Win is a passport program where we have 50 businesses involved this year and by shopping at these businesses, you get a stamp. If you collect eight stamps from participating businesses, you get to enter one of our draws."

The first draw will see one lucky winner walk away with 400 Brockton dollars, able to be used at any stores in Brockton.

Draws will follow November 16 for four consecutive Fridays, with the grand prize being drawn on December 23 for 2,000 Brockton dollars.

Also featured will be live performances by the Celtic Academy of Dance and Walkerton's Sing Show Chorus. The Rotary Club will also be selling some holiday themed drinks.
