Town looking for provincial funding to repair roadway

The Town of Minto is looking to acquire some funding to do repairs on a well used local stretch of highway.

Interim CAO Mark Potter says the town is looking to apply for provincial Connecting Links funds.

"We are looking to apply for Connecting Links funding to do reconstruction of Arthur Street in Harriston. If we are successful the funding model is that up to 90 percent of the expenses would be eligible for the funding, and the town would be responsible for the remaining 10 percent," Potter shared.

The project cost is already roughly figured out.

"At this time the project is estimated to be approximately $2 million, so the town would be responsible for 10 percent of that which is $200,000," said Potter.

Potter adds the project's status is up in the air until they know if they get the funding or not.

"It's really dependant on when we receive news on our application. Applications are due on November 22. We would wait to hear on whether or not we were successful on our application. It wouldn't be a project that would take place until the weather would allow," Potter concluded.
