New Huron-Kinloss fire chief brings years of experience

Shane Watson will become the Fire Chief in Huron-Kinloss at the end of the month.

Watson has ten years of experience as a volunteer with the fire service as well as five as a Fire Prevention Officer and Community Emergency Management Coordinator in the municipal sector.

“I want to thank the Township of Huron-Kinloss Mayor, Council members, and the firefighters. This is an honour and a privilege to serve the citizens of Huron-Kinloss as Fire Chief, having been a member of this community for years. Strengthening the overall safety of our community is always the priority and with the strong dedication from our administration, first responders, Council, and community, we will be there from prevention through to recovery for any situation that may arise,” commented Shane Watson.

"Overall, Shane brings the experience, education and professionalism that make him an asset for our fire and emergency services,” said Huron Kinloss Mayor Don Murray.

Chief Administrative Officer Mary Rose Walden welcomed Chief Watson to Huron-Kinloss’s senior leadership team.

“I look forward to working with him and I am confident that with his experience, he will be a perfect fit for our organization,” she said.

Watson's first day on the job is October 30, 2023.
