UPDATE: OPP investigating tractor crash

Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Huron Detachment are investigating the cause of a collision on Main Street in Seaforth.

The crash happened around 8 p.m. Friday and involved a tractor hauling multiple trailers slamming into a storefront.

According to the OPP, the incident caused heavy structural damage to the multi-level building which contains a business in the lower half, and a residence in the upper portion.

"The residents were home at the time of the collision, but thankfully were uninjured," police said.

Police have identified a 23-year-old from Huron East as the operator of the tractor.

The area was closed while emergency crews worked to remove the machinery safely.

Main Street remains closed to drivers between Goderich Street and Gouinlock Street, though pedestrian traffic is allowed access to area businesses.
