Kincardine businesses celebrate as downtown begins reopening

Kincardine businesses are celebrating as the summer-long Downtown Dig is nearing completion.

On Thursday, Queen Street officially reopened from Durham Market Square South to the Lambton Street intersection.

Queen Street had been closed to traffic since late March as the municipality underwent a major infrastructure replacement of aging water and sewer pipes, roads, and sidewalks.

Work is continuing along the road from Lambton Street to Durham Street. Crews still need to finish service connections to buildings, test and prepare new waterlines and begin fibre optic installation.

The finals phase of the construction should be completed later this fall.
