Bruce County trails plan open to comments

Residents can take a look at Bruce County's proposed Active Transportation and Recreational Trails Master Plan.

The Master Plan outlines goals for existing and future active transportation and recreational trails along County Roads and in County Forests.

The plan was established through stakeholder input and an online survey that sets seven targets to promote active transport and recreational trails in the County.

The seven goals are:

-Expand the Wilderness Trail Network

-Create Trail Loops and Connections

-Improve Parking and Amenities for Trails in County Forests and Bruce County Rail Trail

-Review Trail Crossing and On-Road Safety

-Improve Signage on all County Trails

-Provide Trail Leadership

-Incorporate Reconciliation Measures to Support Indigenous Communities and Culture

The Active Transportation and Recreational Trails Master Plan will lay the groundwork for upgrading and expanding the county's existing trail network, as well as identifying where new trails should be built.

The Active Transportation and Recreation Trails Master Plan will be posted on the Bruce County website for public review and comment until November 24, 2023 at www.brucecounty.on.ca/trails

“The investment of trails and active transportation will support the active lifestyles of our residents while improving mental and physical health and attracting tourism and economic growth to the County,” said Warden Chris Peabody.
