Lion's Head grocery store will reopen

Residents in Northern Bruce Peninsula will be able to get groceries in Lion's Head once again in the future.

The Hellyer Family Foodland in Lion's Head reported it will reopen the store after reconstruction. The store has been closed since a fire caused substantial damage August 29, 2023.

A post on Facebook said the store itself is structurally sound, but a portion of the rafters and ceiling that were affected by the fire need to be replaced, along with one exterior wall.

Work is expected to get underway quickly. Smoke damage means all of the refrigeration units, freezers, and shelving need to be replaced.

"Because of the difficulties we have all seen with our supply chains, we are unable to give our customers a firm reopening date," the Hellyer Family reported. "We appreciate all your well wishes and want you to know how tirelessly we are working to have the store reopened with all the charm you appreciate while implementing some new features we hope you will love."
