Owen Sound Police investigate two stabbings three hours apart

Owen Sound police were busy on Sunday, September 24 as they were investigating a pair of stabbings.

Police say the same suspects were involved in both incidents.

Just before 2 a.m., a 20-year-old man approached a vehicle parked on 2nd Avenue East to ask the man in the passenger seat for a cigarette.

Officers said the woman in the driver's seat got out of the vehicle without provocation and stabbed the victim on the top of the head with a knife. The 20-year-old was taken to hospital via ambulance with a serious, but non-life threatening laceration.

The suspects fled the scene.

Around 4:30 a.m. the same morning, the suspects allegedly forced entry into a west side apartment building, causing substantial damage. Owen Sound Police were called and arrived on scene to investigate.

While the investigation was underway, a tenant found the accused woman hiding in the elevator. The tenant was stabbed in the hand and had a can of bear spray pulled on him. The victim was sent to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

"Police intervened and the female then charged at the officer with a knife and simultaneously discharged more bear spray, striking the officer," police said in a statement to the media.

A taser was used on the suspect.

Upon arrest, police seized two prohibited daggers, multiple knives, a large axe, a machete, crystal methamphetamine, and methamphetamine pills.

A 34-year-old woman from London and a 30-year-old man, formerly of Chesley, are facing multiple charges, including assault with a weapon, aggravated assault, possession of prohibited weapons, and mischief. The woman is also charged with impaired operation of a vehicle by drug, assaulting a peace officer, and administering a noxious substance.

The accused made court appearances and both were remanded into custody.
