Local hospital to close emergency department over weekend

The Louise Marshall Hospital will close its emergency department for a weekend stretch.

The Wellington Health Care Alliance confirmed that the emergency department in Mount Forest will close on Saturday, September 16 at 5 a.m. and will not reopen until Monday, September 18 at 7 a.m. The closure is due to staffing shortages.

Patients are asked to call 911 if they have a medical emergency. Ambulances will remain available to the community and will re-route to surrounding hospitals to ensure residents continue to have access to the emergency services they need.
