County Library working hard to get requested material

Huron County's Librarian and Director of Cultural Services says they don't always have the items people are looking for.

But Beth Rumble says they do work with other libraries across the Province to help access the items people want.

“We have a shared computer system where if we don't have an item in our collection we can look in that system to see if there's another library in Ontario that has it and we can attempt to bring it here and vice-versa other Ontario libraries can search and see if Huron County has an item that they don't have in their collection then we can send it to them," Rumble said.

Rumble says some people aren't aware of those agreements and so they don't ask for help in getting what they're looking for.

“Staff is pretty good about if someone is asking for a material, if they think to ask us, they can do a request for purchase and the library can try to acquire it ourselves. This inter-library loan is usually for older materials or historically pertinent to a different area material," added Rumble.

If people ask for something they don't have, Rumble says they'll do their best to get it from other libraries.
