The Grey Bruce Public Health Unit says a crow in the region has tested positive for West Nile Virus.
The bird is the first in the Grey-Bruce area to test positive for the viral disease this year.
No human cases of West Nile Virus have been reported in Canada in 2023.
The Health Unit says the best way to prevent West Nile is to protect yourself from mosquito bites.
To reduce your risk, they recommend using insect repellant containing DEET or Icaridin, covering exposed skin with light-coloured clothing, repairing damaged doors and window screens to stop insects from getting indoors, and reducing mosquito habitats near your home by eliminating standing water.
