Yellow fish help protect Owen Sound waterways

Something 'fishy' may be going on in Owen Sound. Motorists and pedestrians will notice pictures of yellow fish on the roads in the area south of 10th Street East, between 4th Avenue East and 6th Avenue East.

REACH Centre Grey Bruce has joined the Yellow Fish Road water education program which runs to mid-August. The project aims to lessen the amount of hazardous material that finds its way into our waterways via storm drains.

To increase awareness of stormwater pollution, REACH will paint yellow fish symbols near storm drains and hand out educational pamphlets to local homes.

As a registered charitable organization, the REACH Centre provides educational and recreational programming for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The Yellow Fish Road program is a self-delivered, action-oriented program made available by Trout Unlimited Canada (TUC), a registered Canadian charity dedicated to water and fish.
