Another set of temporary ER closures are coming for the Wingham and District Hospital this week.
The Listowel Wingham Hospitals Alliance announced that the emergency department will close overnight Thursday, starting at 5 p.m. The department will reopen Friday morning at 7 a.m.
The emergency department will also now close Friday, July 28 at 5 p.m. and reopen Saturday, July 29 at 7 a.m.
Additionally, the ER will close through the day Sunday, starting at 5 a.m. and running until 7 p.m.
Hospital officials say both closures are a result of the ongoing staffing shortages and they regret having to take this step.
The closest hospitals include Listowel, Goderich, Palmerston and Seaforth. Non-urgent patients are advised to call ahead to make sure the ER is open.
