Canadian Blood Services hosting more local donation events

Canadian Blood Services will host more local donation events this summer.

On Tuesday, August 1, a donation event will be held at the Mount Forest and District Sports Recreation Complex from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Following that, Owen Sound will host one at the Owen Sound Legion on Wednesday, August 2 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., and again on Wednesday, August 30 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., as well.

Canadian Blood Services says a recent IPSOS survey found that 87 percent of people in Canada recognize there is a constant need for blood and blood products, yet nearly 50 percent say they have not donated because they are waiting to be asked.

Nine young volunteers aged 11 to 17 spent three days exploring and protecting the Lake Huron coastline during the Coastal Conservation Youth Corps' inaugural program in Grand Bend from July 21 to 23.
