New inclusive playground in Georgian Bluffs

Residents of Georgian Bluffs may now take advantage of a brand-new playground in Kilsyth Park, which is close to the Derby Community Centre.

This area aims to give kids of all abilities inclusive play options. Blue Imp, a well-known Canadian firm specializing in playground production and distribution, built the playground.

It offers equipment specifically made for kids between the ages of 18 months and 12 years old, to ensure that kids of all abilities may have a safe and enjoyable time playing. The playground has many features that promote active play and sensory discovery. Children will have the chance to climb, balance, slide and crawl to improve their coordination, fine motor skills, upper and lower body strength, flexibility, grip strength and problem-solving skills.

"We are thrilled to announce the opening of this accessible playground, which will create a welcoming and inclusive space for children in our community," said Acting CAO Niall Lobley. "By incorporating equipment everyone can enjoy, we are ensuring that all children can engage in recreational activities together.”

"This new playground is not just a place for children to have fun,” said Mayor Sue Carleton. “It's a place where they can learn, grow, and create lasting memories. It is a place where the community can come together, families can connect, and children can play. We are thrilled to offer a safe and inclusive environment that everyone can enjoy.”

The Government of Canada's Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario provided the funding for the playground, which is expected to enhance the lives of children and families in Georgian Bluffs.
