Municipality conducting ATV safety initiative

Georgian Bluffs is launching an ATV safety initiative to better protect local and visiting riders, and protect the environment and trails.

There are many kinds of riding trails throughout Georgian Bluffs, including the 14 km of the Rail Trail. This new safe riding initiative will involve the local OPP, who will be stationed strategically across the Township to engage with ATV riders.

The goal is to remind riders of courteous and responsible riding practices, emphasizing adherence to speed limits and the use of proper safety equipment. License and permit checks will also be conducted to ensure compliance with road rules.

Additionally, patrols will be actively carried out to prevent riders from accessing areas where ATVs are not permitted.

"Georgian Bluffs is a beautiful destination for ATV riding, and we want everyone to have a memorable and safe experience. By promoting responsible riding practices and protecting our delicate ecosystems, we can ensure the enjoyment of our township for generations to come," said Mayor Sue Carleton.

"We want to help ensure that all visitors to Georgian Bluffs are able to enjoy all that we have to offer as safely as possible and without negatively impacting the environment, other residents, and visitors in the Township," added acting CAO, Niall Lobley.
