New coding technology has been generously donated to the Bruce County Library branches.
The Society of United Professionals has been donating to Bruce County's libraries for years, including 3D printers, the Bookmobile project, and the first round of coding Ozobots in 2015.
The Ozobots are small robots that use a hands-on approach to teach kids about coding. They require no app or other device to use them, and they respond to their colour-coded markers. The Ozobots follow the line drawn on printer paper and change their behaviour depending on the line’s colour.
Due to their simplicity and ease of use, Ozobots are an ideal tool to introduce children to the concept of coding.
“Ozobots enrich and grow our STEAM programs and help inspire patrons through a fun and interactive introduction to coding and problem-solving. We are incredibly grateful to the Society of United Professionals for their continued generosity and ongoing support of tech-based Library programming," said Digital Initiatives Coordinator Jeremy Clark.
The previous collection of Ozobots has been added to BCPL’s non-traditional items for patrons to check out and learn at home, while the 12 new robots will be used for in Branch programs and special events throughout Bruce County.
