Police lay charges in separate sexual assault investigations

Wellington County OPP have charged two different individuals after investigations into recent sexual assaults.

On June 15 and June 18, police received reports from 2 victims that had been sexually assaulted, both in Wellington North. Following an investigation, police have charged a 19-year-old Harriston man with two counts of sexual assault. He is scheduled to go before the Ontario Court of Justice on August 8 to answer to the charges.

Additionally, on June 19, officers were called at 6:30 p.m. to a disturbance at a business in Wellington North. It was reported that a bystander was subduing an individual after the individual was seen sexually assaulting a victim. Officers arrived and commenced an investigation.

As a result, a 44-year-old from Wellington North has been charged with one count of sexual assault and uttering threats. The accused was held pending a bail hearing.
