Local emergency department changing summer hours due to staffing issues

A local hospital emergency department is adjusting its hours due to staffing challenges.

The South Bruce Grey Health Centre says in a release that due to ongoing staffing issues, the Durham Hospital will be adjusting its hours this summer.

The emergency department in Durham will close at 5 p.m. until the following day at 7 a.m. on a majority of weekends this summer, starting on Saturday, June 24 through the end of July.

The closest 24-hour Emergency Departments to the Durham hospital are:

Mount Forest (25 km)

Markdale (28 km)

Walkerton (28 km)

Owen Sound (46 km)

The emergency department at the Durham Hospital will be closed overnight, from 5 p.m. to 7 a.m., on the following dates:

Saturday, June 24 (closed at 5:00 PM until 7:00 AM on Sunday, June 25)

Thursday, June 29 (closed at 5:00 PM until 7:00 AM on Friday, June 30)

Friday, June 30 (closed at 5:00 PM until 7:00 AM on Saturday, July 1)
