Council supports local healthcare recruitment committee

Mapleton Council has given some financial backing to the Minto Mapleton Health Professional Recruitment Committee.

Mayor Gregg Davidson presented a cheque for $10,000 to the committee on May 16, with the intent of showing council's commitment to local healthcare recruitment in the region. The funding will go toward the committee's ongoing efforts to bring doctors and other healthcare professionals to Mapleton-Minto.

The committee notes that the past few years have been very challenging for rural healthcare, particularly the pandemic showing the strain on the whole healthcare system. Rural communities continue to experience a high need for more healthcare workers, and the funding announced will help to continue key recruitment efforts.
