Theft of 30,000 chicks leaves South Huron farm out $42,000

Huron County OPP are investigating a theft of 30,000 chicks that left a South Huron farmer out a hefty amount of money.

Police say between 3:30 p.m. on April 19 and 2:20 a.m. on April 20, the 15-day-old birds were taken. They are valued at $1.40 each, working out to $42,000.

Officers are looking for help identifying the suspect(s).

Anyone with information or who may have witnessed it is asked to contact the Huron County OPP or Crime Stoppers.
