A man who allegedly broke into a local motel to take a snooze without paying is now facing 19 charges.
Huron County OPP were called on March 24 at 10:05 a.m. for a break-and-enter mischief report at a motel located on Bayfield Road in Goderich. A male was found in one of the rooms sleeping, and staff at the motel confirmed the male had not paid for the room. Investigation revealed the man had allegedly forced his way into the room through a window. The man had left the scene prior to police arriving, but staff provided officers with photos and video.
The suspect was known to police, and was seen later in Goderich, where he was arrested. Officers searched the suspect and allegedly found break-in tools, weapons, and stolen property. The 32-year-old suspect of no fixed address is now facing 19 charges, including break-and-enter and five counts of possession of a firearm.
The accused was held for a bail hearing and later remanded into custody. The accused has a court appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Goderich on April 4.
