UPDATE: HPPH confirms dog involved recent scratching incident is found

**Updated as of 5:00 p.m., March 31, 2023**

Huron Perth Public Health has found a dog involved in a recent scratching incident in Mitchell.

On March 28, a child was scratched by a dog at the dog park on Wellington Street in Mitchell around 5:30 p.m. The dog was described as a purebred Burnese mountain dog, black, white and brown in colour and not yet fully grown. The dog was being walked by a female who stated she was watching the dog for a sibling.

HPPH officials have now confirmed the dog has been found, and was up to date on its vaccinations, so the victim will not be required to receive precautionary rabies shots.
