Traffic stop leads to drug bust

Saugeen Shores police have arrested two woman after officers allegedly found drugs during a search of a vehicle.

On Sunday, police stopped a vehicle in Port Elgin. According to police, officers saw a truck they recognized was driven by a prohibited driver. The truck, which was parked in a shopping plaza parking lot, was being approached by several people.

A traffic stop was conducted, resulting in the seizure of drugs and the arrests. Two women, one 47-years-old and the other 25-years-old, were arrested. One of the women was arrested on a warrant held by Owen Sound Police and the other was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance.

The second woman also had warrants from Thunder Bay Police and the OPP.

Seized from the vehicle were:

  • Suspected fentanyl
  • Methamphetamine
  • Oxycodone
  • Various prescription medications not in their names
  • Drug trafficked paraphernalia
  • Credit cards not in their names
The two women face several drug charges. As of Monday morning, they were being held in custody, awaiting their bail hearing.

The 47-year-old woman of Owen Sound had previously arrested and charged with Operation While Impaired, Assault with a Weapon, and Mischief over $5,000 in February after allegedly driving a vehicle through the lobby of a Port Elgin motel.

She was released on an agreement with several conditions.
