UPDATE: Victim identified in Meaford hit and run

The Grey Bruce OPP have released the identity of the pedestrian killed in a hit and run in Meaford on Saturday morning.

Ken Irvine, a 44-year-old from Kitchener, was reportedly struck by a vehicle along Story Book Park Road on March 25, around 1 a.m. He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Officers say the involved vehicle left the scene and anyone with video of the area between midnight and 2 a.m. is asked to contact the Grey Bruce OPP.

Story Book Park Road from Highway 6 & 10 to Concession 10 had been closed for the investigation but has since re-opened to traffic.

The investigation continues under the direction of the OPP's Criminal Investigation Branch.

Nine young volunteers aged 11 to 17 spent three days exploring and protecting the Lake Huron coastline during the Coastal Conservation Youth Corps' inaugural program in Grand Bend from July 21 to 23.
