New councillor appointed in South Bruce

South Bruce council has filled a vacant seat by appointing Ron Schnurr to represent the Mildmay-Carrick Ward.

At a special meeting on Monday, March 21, council filled the vacancy through appointment after councillor Audrey Bross resigned earlier this year.

Schnurr was sworn in to represent the Mildmay-Carrick Ward. He's a former councillor for South Bruce and a fourth-generation resident of South Bruce. Schnurr has participated in multiple local organizations including local sports organizations, homecoming planning, and municipal committees. He has four children, nine grandchildren, and has worked in agriculture for numerous years.

Mayor Mark Goetz expects Schnurr to be a great addition to council, and said his previous experience as a councillor and his current involvement with numerous community committees should be an asset.

“I’m excited to collaborate with Councillor Schnurr to continue the work of this council,” Mayor Goetz said.
