Company buys land to develop more housing in local municipality

North Huron Reeve Paul Heffer says council was very pleased to announce at this week's council meeting that a property in Hutton Heights, south of Wingham, has been sold for residential development.

Heffer says South Side Construction of London has purchased the property for a $650,000 purchase price and $500,000 in front-end development charges.

“It's going to be like an apartment complex and then all different types of housing. There's one apartment and they feel they'll put that in and then it covers all that the government wants them to try and put in in the development site," said Heffer.

Given the housing needs of the municipality, Heffer adds they're very happy to have sold the property.

“We're just so happy about it. They took what the council sort of gave up as a concept and they went with that and changed things around a little bit and this is what they proposed and the council was unanimous in accepting it," Heffer enthused.

Heffer says the developer, South Side Construction, has been building projects of this size for some time, and the municipality is very happy to have them develop the property in Hutton Heights.
