Driver stopped for suspected stolen plates facing multiple charges

A 28-year-old Elmira man has been accused of multiple offenses after a traffic stop by a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer.

On February 18 around 11:30 a.m., OPP say an officer patrolling along Metcalfe Street in Elora pulled a vehicle over on the suspicion of stolen license plates.

After further investigation, the driver ended up being hit with multiple charges, including impaired driving, possession of stolen property, and failure to comply with release orders.

The accused will appear at the Guelph Ontario Court of Justice on April 14.
