Grey County staff looks to save $1M

Grey County Council has had a look at its preliminary budget numbers.

At last Thursday's meeting, council heard that the County is facing pressure which will impact the budget, including previously committed investments, inflation and insurance premiums.

The report said the county will need an extra $2,340,000 to deliver services and programs at recommended levels. With new growth accounted for, the county is looking at a levy increase of 3.66 per cent compared to 2022.

After discussing the report, Council directed staff to target a $1 million levy increase. Staff will prepare a detailed budget package which will be discussed by County Council at a special budget meeting on Friday, January 27.
