Team Canada wins the U18 Women's World Championship

Canada's girls are bringing home the gold for the second year in a row.

On Sunday, Team Canada defeated Sweden in a 10 - 0 blowout in the final game of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) U18 Women's World Championship.

Canada beat the Swedish national team on their home turf as the 2023 championships were held in Ostersund, Sweden.

This is Canada's seventh gold medal from the IIHF U18 tournament.

Team Canada had a strong lead from the start, scoring five goals in the first period. Caitlin Kraemer led the way with four goals. Alexia Aubin made two goals, while Abby Lunney, Piper Grober, Mackenzie Alexander, and Charlotte Pieckenhagen each scored once.

Kraemer scored 10 goals during the tournament, setting a new Canadian record according to Hockey Canada.

Goaltender Hannah Clark had a perfect performance, making 21 saves throughout the game.
