Dead body found along Bruce Trail near Meaford

Police have provided more information about an investigation into the discovery of a body earlier this week.

On Monday, January 9, residents were told to avoid an area near Owen Sound due to an unspecified police investigation.

At about 10 a.m., Grey Bruce OPP, Inter-township Fire Department, and Grey County EMS responded to a section of the Bruce Trail off of Concession 11 in the Municipality of Meaford.

Police say emergency personnel were called to the area after hikers had located a deceased individual.

Emergency responders remained on scene to process the area and investigate the matter.

Investigators say the cause of death has been deemedas non-suspicious. The name of the individual has not yet been released.

The Grey Bruce OPP would like to thank members of the public for their understanding and cooperation during the closure of the area.
