The Canadian government has announced $15 million in federal funding into projects to help fight substance use and addictions.
Minister of Mental Health and Addictions Carolyn Bennettt said many people are suffering from addictions, as the overdose crisis and illegal drug supplies impact individuals, communities and families.
Bennett says funding for 24 projects across Canada through Health Canada's Substance Use and Addictions Program (SUAP) should result in significant improvements for people at risk.
She said the funding will allow innovative community-led projects to help people who are experiencing substance-related harms or overdoses. The money will help scale up prevention, harm reduction, treatment, and safe supply programs.
