The CAO for Huron County says the Planning and Development Department is doing what it can to address the need for more housing and more variety of housing.
“We are seeing an increase in the number of applications within the Planning and Development Department and they really have ramped things up and have excellent timelines for being able to push through the approval process,” said Meighan Wark.
“We've seen 301 new lots through severance and 742 lots through subdivision approvals. That is significant, I think, and over the next number of years we'll continue to see some growth in those areas,” added Wark.
Wark says the county is working to attract people to move to the area to fill the jobs that are vacant, but she says people aren't going to come to Huron County if there is no place for them to live.
