Annual golf tournament raises money for new hospital equipment

The 18th annual Mary Lynne Forrest Memorial Golf Tournament raised significant funds for new local medical equipment this summer.

A release from the Louise Marshall Hospital Foundation in Mount Forest says this year's tournament in July had a goal of $35,000 to purchase a colonoscope, an instrument used to assess colon health, for Louise Marshall Hospital. The tournament this year ended up raising $62,000, which has allowed the tournament committee to fund the purchase of an electric stretcher for use in the Emergency Room at LMH, in addition to a colonoscope. Since 2005, the tournament has now raised $920,000.

Every year, the tournament alternates between raising funds for Louise Marshall Hospital and the Palmerston and District Hospital.

Amy Van Huss, the Development Officer for the Louise Marshall Hospital Foundation, was at Pike Lake on August 31 to accept the proceeds from this event from the tournament committee.
