Overnight closures to hit Chesley Hospital ER

Staff shortages and sick leave are again impacting midwestern Ontario's hospitals.

The Chesley Emergency department will close overnight for five consecutive nights starting Friday until Wednesday morning.

A statement from South Bruce Grey health Centre said all efforts to find staffing for the Emergency Department have been undertaken without success.

Ambulance by-pass will undertaken to divert patients to the nearest open ED.

The Chesley ED will be closed:

Friday, September 2 at 5 p.m. to Saturday, September 3 at 7 a.m. Saturday, September 3 at 5 p.m. to Sunday, September 4 at 7 a.m. Sunday, September 4 at 5 p.m. to  Monday, September 5 at 7 a.m. Monday, September 5 at 5 p.m. to Tuesday, September 6 at 7 a.m. Tuesday, September 6 to 5 p.m. to Wednesday, September 7 at 7 a.m.

Anyone requiring immediate medical attention should call 911 to be taken to the nearest Emergency Department. For non-urgent health care needs, Health Connect Ontario is available 24/7 for non-emergency health-related questions by calling 811.
