A new era of transit begins in the City of Owen Sound Saturday. Voyago begins operating the City’s half-hour fixed-route and on-demand mobility transit services for City residents on August 27.
Voyago currently operates Guelph Owen Sound Transit. A media release from the city said the interim fleet of new, fully accessible buses will provide customers with a reliable, comfortable ride.
And new technology being installed in the fall will allow customers to see real-time bus locations along routes and predict when buses will arrive at any selected stop. Additionally, onboard automated stop announcements call out stops to customers riding the bus.
The permanent fleet of new low-floor, ramp-equipped buses are expected to arrive in the Spring of 2023 and will be equipped with bicycle racks in readiness for the summer season.
For mobility transit users, Voyago has established a new telephone number to book mobility transit rides, effective August 27, 2022. Voyago will begin booking mobility transit rides on Friday, August 26, 2022. To book a mobility transit ride, please call (519) 671-7168.
Mobility Transit provides residents with a door-to-door service specifically designed for residents with mobility limitations that restrict their ability to use the Conventional transit service
“We are excited to have Voyago as the new transit service provider. Access to transportation helps people of all ages stay connected, attend social events, access employment opportunities, important health services, education, and so much more,” said Mayor Ian Boddy.
