Illegal cannabis plants seized in Arthur

A Commercial Motor Vehicle driver is facing multiple charges after officers found hundreds of illegal cannabis plants in a vehicle in Arthur.

On Wednesday, Wellington County OPP was conducting safety inspections in the town, as part of the Operation Safe Driver Week initiative.

A commercial motor vehicle entered the inspection area, and during the course of the inspection, approximately 300 illegal cannabis plants were found.

A 58-year old man from Stoufville faces charges which include; Possession of More than Four Cannabis Plants (not budding or flowering), Distribute More than Four Cannabis Plants (not budding or flowering), Drive Commercial Motor Vehicle - No Valid CVOR Certificate.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice-Guelph, at a later date.

Youth volunteers practice coastal conservation

Nine young volunteers aged 11 to 17 spent three days exploring and protecting the Lake Huron coastline during the Coastal Conservation Youth Corps' inaugural program in Grand Bend from July 21 to 23.
