The unemployment rate in the Stratford-Bruce Peninsula Economic Region climbed slightly last month.
That's according to the Four County Labour Market Planning Board, who revealed the numbers in a release. Unemployment in the region climbed .4 percentage points to land at 4 percent in June, which is the second lowest among all regions in Ontario. The provincial unemployment rate decreased by 0.2 percentage points to 5.4 percent, with both rates unadjusted for seasonality. Overall net employment in the region increased by 2,700, with full-time gains (+4,000) and part-time losses (-1,200).
Current job postings for the Bruce, Grey, Huron, Perth region have increased overtime since the pandemic and can be found at: http://www.connect2JOBS.ca. This current number of job postings currently exceeds 2,600.
“Positive signs are showing with a decrease of job vacancies and a steady increase of full-time employment. However, the Manufacturing, Transportation and Warehousing industries continue to struggle to fill positions. The collection and analysis of local data for the Stratford-Bruce Peninsula Economic Region will be critical to exposing the unique challenges and opportunities within our local labour market, “says Dana Soucie, Executive Director for the Four County Labour Market Planning Board.
