Art auction to support families from Ukraine

Proceeds form an art auction will go to the Goderich Lions Club to help families that are coming from Ukraine.

Lesley Zolob is the Project Coordinator for the Artist Club at the Mackay Centre in Goderich, and recently made a presentation to the Lions Club.

“So I approached all of our local artists and asked for submissions and they generously responded with donations of close to 50 works of original art. Some of these artists are professionals at their trade, with exhibits in galleries,” said Zolob.

The paintings have been hanging in the windows at the Red Door on Hamilton Street, but by the end of Tuesday, they will all be hanging at the MacKay Centre.

“Each painting will be hung with a number and a corresponding sign-up sheet will be on the table. Bidders are welcome to come in during business hours to increase their bids and the final bids close at 7 p.m. on June the 22nd.”

Zolob says all proceeds from the auction will be given to the Goderich Lions Club to be used to assist the Ukrainian refugees moving into the Goderich area.

She adds one of their art club members has a mother and her son already staying with her and the rest of the family is expected to arrive in July.
